Fan Ho (1931-2016)
Fan Ho’s work is a masterclass in photography. Each image conveying perfect lighting, composition and the right atmosphere. I came across his work recently and I am in love with his use of light. It is inspiring me to dust of my film cameras and bring back some meditative focus to my photography.
“Dubbed the “Cartier-Bresson of the East”, Fan Ho patiently waited for ‘the decisive moment’; very often a collision of the unexpected, framed against a very clever composed background of geometrical construction, patterns and texture. He often created drama and atmosphere with backlit effects or through the combination of smoke and light. His favorite locations were the streets, alleys and markets around dusk or life on the sea”.

Marrakesh is mad!
Our 4 hour journey through the Atlas mountains was beautiful and scary at the same time.
Taghazout, a fishing village close to Agadir, was calm and friendly.

Black Impossible Brighton or Weekly Photo Challenge: Eerie
Last year, while I was still living in Brighton, I tried this Polaroid film created by the Impossible project.
The result was wonderfully eerie.
This also fits quite well with this week’s photo challenge.
Germany: There were two, now there is one
Written on THE WALL : “Du hast gelernt was Freiheit heisst, und das vergiss nie mehr” – You have learned what freedom means and that you shall forget no more.
Today is the anniversary of the reunification of Germany. Berlin still stands as a symbol of the once divided Germany with what is left of the WALL that separated East and West Berlin. But the whole of Germany was separated not just Berlin, in fact, West Berlin was a little island of “Western Germany” in “Eastern Germany” – yes it was that crazy!
